Ontario’s Moratorium on Residential Evictions Lifted
The Ontario’s temporary ban on residential evictions expired Wednesday, June 2, 2021 along with the province wide Stay-At-Home Order.
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing confirmed that the emergency order had not been extended and that the regular residential eviction enforcement process carried out by the Sheriff’s Office will resume.
Since the on set of the Stay-At-Home Order, the Landlord and Tenant Board has continued to hear eviction applications and award eviction orders with enforcement postponed until the moratorium had been lifted. The end of the eviction ban, allows the Sheriff’s Office to now enforce all eviction orders issued by the Board.
